  4. The word survive to me, means a form of living beyond what just being alive means. Survive means more of living past a tough experience and overcoming it to survive in a world full of hardship and tough times. Survivor means a person who has overcome an obstacle and who has the patience, hope, strength, and mentality to go above and beyond. A survivor is not any ordinary person, but someone who has the means to live and overcome the dangers in the world. Survival is a word that means what it takes to survive, such as what skills you have if you were ever put in a survival situation. Survival is basically the difference between life and death and shows what steps you took to overcome the fear of death.

  7. To survive means to perservere through a hardship. Survivor is a person who survives. Survival is a general overview of surviving, which includes experiences and such. I was quite brief about this one, and I apologize. But I did not see the need to ramble on when a short answer would suffice.

  8. To survive is to be breathing, concious, and aware. I also think it involves being able to defend yourself.

Survivor is a person or thing, it's a noun, and this is sometihng that successfully (or is sucessfully completing) the task or action of surviving. I think that survivor is never past tense, it always indidcates that one is still surviving, because survival is lifelong.

Survival is the action survive. It's like run is to running. Survival is a constant state of mind to me.

  11. I initially think "survive" means, to live through a horrible time. Whether it may be a plague, apocalypse, or the flu, I think you have to have the want to survive. I think a person can only survive based on whether they want to survive or not. A survivor, is someone who has that passion to want to live and will do anything to stay alive. Survival is to have already lived through it. I also think survival can mean the things you have (or skills) that will allow you more time to live.

  12. Obviously, the words survive, survivor, and survival all have very similar meanings. However, if one would go into great depth to decide what each word means for himself, it might be apparent that the words can have extremely different meanings based off of personal experiences. To me, the word survive means to continue to live after overcoming a hardship. People may survive something through talent, hard work, or just pure luck. Survivor means a person who has overcome a hardship. In this instance the person, not situation, would be talented, hard working, or lucky. Lastly, survival is the word I feel like one would use to describe an over all story of over coming a situation. The words all mean nearly the same thing, but they would be used to different contexts to describe instances where one has overcome something that they never thought was once possible.

  13. In all reality these words are very difficult to pin point a deffintion to. The word survive could mean that the person overcame an illness. They are able to thrive in a depleating community. They take risks to keep themselves alive. To me the word surive means to have the strenght and will within your self to keep going. No matter what the circumstance to survive you must be able to fight wether it be mentally, emotionally, or in some cases physically.
Although a survivor would fit underneatht the same category as the word survive, there is much more that this word entails. The word survivor means victory and accomplishment. What ever attack or threat that that person had against their livelyhood is gone and they have survived. An example of a survivor would be a woman who against all odds defets canser, or a man who is stranded on a desert island and makes his way back home.
Lasty even the word survival can be also be durived from the root word survive. Survival is more ov the journey. It is the living and breathing passage in which someone is trying to take to better their lives. It is staying alive and fighting no matter what the cost.

  14. The initial meaning I get from these words relates them to a sense of accomplishment or success. The fact that you were able to overcome something could be viewed as surviving it. But then I think about the negative side of it. You don't always survive something and come out better than when you started. People survive wars and return battered and beaten. They have to live the rest of their lives with those memories and the wounds they received there. Surviving something indicates a huge struggle. People don't say that they survived going to the grocery store or brushing their teeth. Survival usually means that their life was on the line or that they would have been irreparably changed. Survival means doing whatever you need to continue to live. Survival is ensuring your existence.

  15. I think the word survive can mean different things to different people. To some people it is simply living, while to other people it may mean much more. It could be living in a certian comfort level or having mental piece to some people. The term survivor is given to people who have met the requirements we set for the word survive. To some people it could be debated whether someone truely survived or not. An example would be someone who lived though the holocuast but was mental useless after that from the trama. Some people would say that person is a survivor while others disagree.
Survial is used for situtations that are potientaly dangerous and require us to do things to perserve ourselves.

  16. Survive- To survive means to be able to make it through things, I consider it as being the ability to work through things such as dangerous situations to be able to overcome them and make it out alive. It means to know how to overcome these things as well. Being able to use common sense and other skills and pull them into the situation that is at hand.

Survivor- To be a survivor is someone who is able to make it though tough situations, I think it is the ability to use your mental and physical toughness to make it through the situation that is at hand. When I think of the word survivor I think of my great aunt and my Nana surviving different forms of cancer and that's what I think of as a survivor.

Survival- I think of that as being able to make it through and being alive after hard situations.

  17. I think that the word survive means to endure something (usually negative or unusual) until full completion. If one does not endure the obstacle completely, they are not considered a survivor. A survivor is someone who does endure something (usually negative or unusual) completely successfully. Survivors live to tell their tales. Survival is the act of surviving something (usually negative or unusual).

  18. To me, to survive means to withstand a struggle or something that was significantly hard. I think to survive means to make it out of something that you thought you might not have. I think a survivor is someone who has faced an awful time, but in the end has made it out ok. I think a survivor has to have certain qualities like bravery and courage. I think defining a survivor is a difficult task becuase it is so different to everyone. One person's major struggle might be an insignificant daily rountine for someone else. Being a survivor, I think comes with a sense of pride that one only feels when they know that they have truly overcome something difficult in their life. I think survival is more like a knowledge of many things put together to help in times of trial. I think survival can account for physical survival as well as emotional survival. To me, it can also just be the day to day process of living, we have to "survive" everyday.

  19. To survive is to still be alive. To me it means a little more. Sure you can be alive and breathing, but if you have no cognition I feel like you really are pretty much dead. In my opinion, to survive a person has to come out of a situation with their heart still beating and able to live a for the most part normal life.

A survivor is a person who survived a drastic, life-threatening event. They may have injuries and take months to recover, but if end the end they have control of their brain and are able to keep on living. To me a person really didn't survive if they are extremely damaged and really unable to function properly without the assistance of things like a breathing machine or tubes(like people in a coma).

Survival is when people are able to keep on living. Survial is a state in which people are overcoming odds against them and are able to remain alive. During survival, the people are still living and breathing, but conditions are hard. I think most everyone has some survival instinct.

  20. Survive to me is the idea of being able to overcome major struggles and obstacles that a person has been faced with.

A survivor is someone who has faced life's hardships, clinging to the need to continue to fight and live another day, and has come out at the end of it likely stronger than before.

Survival in my own mind is the act of sticking it out during hardships or difficulties within our lives and pulling through, similar to survive but in a more present sense.

  21. These words have very different means depending on the perspective that pertains to a certain person. The word survive could mean something very different to the person sitting next to me, than it means to me. In my perspective Survive means to do what ever it takes to stay alive. To have the courage and the will to persevere through any obstacle that life throws at you. Surviving something means to me that you had great enough strength and will to come out against all odds.
When i think of the word survivor, I always think of someone who has survived something unfortunate or tragic in their lifetime. I understand that many people are given circumstances that they cannot overcome and they do not make it through them, but in that same sense I never think of a survivor as someone who is weak or "lucky." In order to be a survivor you have to be strong willed.
Survival also means something different to me. I think of survival as surviving the unexpected or learn to cope with something thrown your way that you were not previously prepared to deal with.

  22. I think that survive means to really just get through any kind of hardship, and to really live the life you were given in the best way possible no matter what happens. I think that the definition of survivor would be someone who has been through something so horrible, but still chooses to be happy and live their life. I think that survival is the way someone would go about overcoming hardships.

  23. I believe the word survive pertains to the physical state your body is in. If you are consciously breathing then you are surviving. You may be injured, however; you are still alive. A survivor is a person who has had to overcome obstacles to get to where they are today. They have survived an incident the never believed that they would. For example, someone who survives cancer, climbs a great mountain, or crosses a great feat is a survivor. The word survival to me means the strength that it takes to keep moving. The act of pulling together all of your resources in order to stay alive. Often adrenaline kicks in to allow people to act under extreme circumstances.

  24. I think that survivor means a person who survived a potentially life threatening situation like a natural disaster or a severe illness. Survive and survival mean almost the same thing to me. To survive means to do whatever is necessary to stay alive without going beyond that. A person lost in the wilderness for example can eat wild animals and drink water out of a stream to stay alive. I do not think that a normal person living an ordinary life with a house and a job would be considered surviving because they would have more than they needed to stay alive. I think survival is very similar to this in that a person only has the basic necessities that are needed to stay alive.
