Can Protest Candidates Win?

Read this article: Charles Darwin Got 4000 Votes in Georgia

What do you think?  If you could have written anyone in for the election, who would you have put and why?

  1. I think that writing in candatates as a protest vote is a good idea. This lets the voters voice of discontent be heard if they hate both of the candatites. If I had to write in anyone I would vote for Vermin Supreme because that man is a genius.

  4. I think it is nonsense. I think it's werid to vote in a dead representative because all that does is leave your state without a representative for a few months. If I were to write in I would nominate Lord (Scott) Disick. he would be a great representative adn I really do think he would do a good job. Other than that I think writing in is silly, because they are not on the ballot for a reason, whether it be because they are not fit or because they are dead.

  5. I think this is hilariously stupid. I find it funny, but I also find so strange that that many people could all come together and vote for one candidate that's not on the ballot...or even alive. I would have elected LORD DISICK! Well first off, he's amazing and a total ladies man, second, he could rule this country with flying colors! :)

  6. Writing in candidates in as a protest can be a good idea. Writing in a vote as protest can show the voters voice telling everyone that he does not like either of the people running for election. Honestly i do not know who i would have written in for election.

  7. It never occured to me that something like this situation could happen. If I could write anyone in for the election, I would write in Jesus because he is a great leader, he so many people would respect his ideas and philosophies. The world would be more peaceful if Jesus was president.

  8. If I could have written anyone in for the election, I would have chosen Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I cannot think of anyone who could better lead our people than Christ himself.

  9. I think putting anyone isn't that far fetched if you feel like that the person you put can a make a difference for the better. However, I think putting a dead person just shows stupidity. What is the dead person going to do lead and make a difference for the better. They can't do anything so at least put someone who is alive and can actually do something. If I could put anyone for election, I would put Henry Wrinkler. He is cool, a good actor, knows how to get rid of shoe odor, writes good books, he is funny, and a nice guy.

  10. I believe that writing in candidates is a good idea. If one doesn't like the candidates that are running, then they should write in a vote. I would vote for Lord Disick.

  11. I think this is terrifically interesting. The dead candidates seem to be set up for victory, even though they can't do anything with it, because nobody wants to campaign against a dean person. I also find it hilarious that animals can hold office in the United States. I think many aspects of government would be better if an animal were in position. If I could have written someone into the election, I would have written in Morgan Freeman. This is my choice because, let's be honest, people would want him to be president just to hear his speeches. Besides, he played God so how could he be bad!?

  12. I think that write in candidates should not be an option to vote for. This takes the accuracy away from the actuall vote because the write in candidates almost always lose. If I was told that I was elected to a posision that I did not even consider I would reject. If I could vote for a write in then I would vote for Jesus because he is perfect.

  13. If I were to write in a canidate for the election, I would probably write in Jesus. With all of the crazyiness of politics there is only one person who really knows truth. We will never be fully happy with any canidate because all end up lying or betraying the country. Jesus does not betray his followers. I cannot think of anyone else who would be a better leader and help this country more. Jesus is what this country needs.

  14. If I had to nominate someone I would nominate my dog. She's cute and doesn't talk. At this point in time I would greatly enjoy a president that doesn't talk. Just kidding. I think it's really stupid to nominate someone who isn't on the ballot. First of all they won't win and second, they can't win. I think it's dumb.

  15. I would vote for Malcom Reynolds. He is a great leader and has excellent problem solving skills. he commands respect from people and is great at negotiating. Even when plans fall through he always has alternative options. He keeps his head in tough situations and knows what to do in a crisis.

  16. If I could write in a person for the election I would have written in that Mr. Rogers should be the president. Even though he's dead.. I think he would have been a nicer person to run for president and he was a great person. So I think he would be a good person to run for president.

  17. I do think dead candidates should be able to win an election because some of their ideas and thoughts are still to this day, very good ones. Many people still favor dead candidates ideas and beliefs so I think this should definitely be an option. Many of the new laws were based off of older or dead candidates law ideas so that this wouldnt be much of a change. If i could have written anyone in for the election, it would be Geore Washington or Abraham Lincoln because they did so much good for the country all the way back in the day. Since we have matured so much and are so much more successful nowadays, imagine what good they could do now.

  18. I think it's pretty weird to vote in a dead person? It deosn't seem like anything work considering the person is dead. If i were to cote in someone it would be my cat Taz because he is cute and fluffy and loves everybody.

  19. I find it interesting that illegitimate candidates still have overwhelming votes. If I could put someone in office I would elect Paula Deen because America will learn how to cook delicious food. She may even miraculously learn to prepare healthy dishes, which in turn would lower the obesity in America.

  20. If I wrote anyone in on that ballot I would choose my dog, Paisley, she's significanly smarter than most dogs, and some politicians. She could really improve our nation... seriously.

  21. I agree that people should be able to write in candidates for president. I think that way the people would be considered qualified by the general public to run as president. However, I can also see where nominating people could have its downfalls. I don't really have anyone in particular that I would nominate to run.

  22. I think the protest voting was clever, maybe not always appropriate but clever nonetheless. I would've written in for Leslie Knope, Amy Poehler's character from Parks and Recreation because she has experience as a city councilwoman and she's hilarious and fun and like Harry Potter and minature ponies; she's also really smart and well-versed in politics and would bring a lot of girl power to the United States. She also would be well liked by other countries' leaders.

  23. I feel like protest candidates should not be voted because usually they are either not around anymore or real people. I feel that it is being done right and making sure the opposition does keep the job. I personally think it would be cool to have Kermit the Frog as president, but he is not a real person. The person that would take Kermit's place would most likely be his voice actor, and we do not even know if he is smart enough in politics to be president. In turn prostest candidates should not be voted in to offices. If I would put in a protest vote, I would vote for Jesus. I would vote for him because he is just awesome!

  24. I think it is funny that people can choose to vote for whoever they want even if it doesn't count. If I were to write-in whoever I wanted I would choose Ellen Degeneres because she would fill America with laughter and happiness.

  25. I do not think that a write-in candidate should be allowed to win the election. The reason that they are not on the ballot, is because usually there is someone that the public supports more than them. If there name is not on the ballot, then the chance of them winning would be so small, that it would be pointless to vote for them. If the even won, they would still not be allowed to take office, because their name wasn't on the ballot. If I could vote for anyone as a write in candidate, I would probably vote for Jesus. Due to the fact that he is perfect, he would probably make a good president.

  26. If I had the opportunity to write anyone in, I think I would probably write Jesus in. He had the best morals, he loves everyone. He would know exactly how to run the country and what the people need to succeed in this society.
